Prior to the commencement of the emergency response drill, Cui Songbiao, General Manager of Luoyang Weicheng Engineering Testing Co., Ltd., and Gong Aifeng, Deputy General Manager, extended a warm welcome to the provincial, municipal, and district leaders who had attended the visit. They emphasized that Weicheng Testing will consistently focus on enhancing its technical expertise and emergency response capabilities, thereby providing robust technical support and assurance for enterprise safety management and government oversight and law enforcement. The company remains committed to its guiding principles of “quality first, high quality and efficiency, scientific impartiality, and customer-centric service,” upholds its corporate mission of “serving major national projects and supporting national strategies,” places paramount importance on safety and quality, and strives to contribute Weicheng’s strength to Luoyang’s development as a sub-center city within Henan Province.

At 9:00 a.m., the drill officially commenced. This exercise simulated emergency response procedures under an abnormal condition in which the drive mechanism of a gamma-ray radioactive source becomes jammed, covering six phases: initiation of the emergency response, emergency response activation, on-site control and containment, emergency handling, termination of the emergency response, and post-emergency recovery. The company’s emergency response team focused on demonstrating key steps such as donning protective gear, locating and identifying the radioactive source, and safely retrieving the source, thereby ensuring that no radiological contamination occurs following a radiological incident. With each member of the emergency response team performing their designated duties, the drill proceeded in an orderly manner and successfully completed all phases.

At the same time, he raised higher standards for the feasibility of the emergency plan, the rationality of the response procedures, and the effectiveness of emergency support measures. Zhang Qi, a fourth-level researcher at the Luoyang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and Wei Changchun, a second-level researcher in the Radiation Division of the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, also summarized and commented on the drill, both noting that the exercise was meticulously organized, accurately simulated real-world field conditions, and featured professional, thorough, and practical operational procedures. The drill provided valuable, replicable methodologies for enterprises to draw upon when responding to similar incidents, thereby achieving the intended objectives and concluding in complete success.

Through this exercise, Luoyang Weicheng Engineering Testing Co., Ltd. demonstrated its professionalism and strength in the field of radiation detection, as well as its strong sense of responsibility and robust emergency response capabilities. Moving forward, Weicheng Testing will remain committed to the research and application of nondestructive testing technologies, continuously enhancing its technical expertise and service quality to deliver more reliable and efficient services to its clients. At the same time, the company will further strengthen employee training and improve its emergency response capabilities, ensuring that it can respond swiftly and effectively to unforeseen incidents. This exercise not only served as a crucial training opportunity for the company but also marked a significant milestone in its journey within the radiation detection sector.
