TOFD
TOFD technology (Time of Flight Diffraction Technique) is a nondestructive testing method that relies on diffraction signals, also known as time-of-flight diffraction ultrasonic testing. Compared with conventional pulse-echo techniques, TOFD offers the following distinct advantages:
1. Enhanced dimensional measurement accuracy, with defect detection rates that are virtually independent of defect orientation, resulting in high detection sensitivity and excellent quantitative accuracy.
2. Clear and reliable TOFD inspection images are available; compared with A-scan signals, TOFD inspection images are more conducive to defect identification and analysis.
3. In addition to routine inspections, it can also be used for monitoring defect evolution, with particularly high measurement accuracy for the vertical propagation of cracks.
