Precautions for Inspection and Assessment of Steel Structural Engineering

2020-02-18

Precautions for Inspection and Assessment of Steel Structure Engineering: 1. Inspection of steel structures may encompass the performance of steel materials, connections and detailing, dimensions and deviations of structural members, as well as deformation and damage. When necessary, full-scale load tests on the structure or individual members, or dynamic testing of the structure, may be conducted. 2. The division of inspection units for material performance, connections and detailing, and dimensions and deviations of structural members may be determined in accordance with the Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Steel Structures GB 50205; the corresponding sampling quantities are as follows: For Class A buildings, the number of samples inspected shall not be less than 50% of the quantity specified in GB 50205.

What is the quality inspection agency for steel structure projects?

2020-02-18

Structural steel quality inspection agencies—structural steel, as the name suggests, is a type of structure manufactured and processed primarily from steel, and it is now an extremely important category in the construction industry. Thanks to the inherent characteristics of steel—lightweight, high strength, and excellent resistance to deformation—steel structures have earned widespread recognition within the building sector and are being increasingly applied across a broad range of construction projects. The penetration rate of steel structures in a country has come to serve as an indicator of its level of economic development: the greater the number of steel infrastructure facilities, the higher the country’s economic and technological standing. In China, following the 2008 Olympic Games’ main stadium…

What inspections are required for steel structure projects?

2020-02-18

What exactly does structural steelwork inspection entail? Many people are unclear about this, so let me explain. The inspections include: measurement of member dimensions and flatness; detection of surface defects on members; examination of connections (welded joints and bolted connections); assessment of steel corrosion; and measurement of fire-resistant coating thickness. If the steel does not come with a factory certificate of conformity, or if there are doubts about its quality, mechanical property tests should be added, and chemical composition analysis should be conducted when necessary. II. Scope of Application for Various Structural Steel Inspection Codes III. Measurement of Member Dimensions and Flatness For each dimension, measurements shall be taken at three locations along the member, and the average of these three readings shall be taken as the representative value for that dimension. The dimensions of steel members…
