Fluorescent magnetic particles are a type of magnetic particle used for magnetic particle inspection under ultraviolet (blacklight) illumination. They are formulated by encapsulating magnetic particles with a layer of fluorescent dye resin. When exposed to ultraviolet light, they emit a bright yellow-green fluorescence with a wavelength of 510–550 nm—the range to which the human eye is most sensitive—thereby creating high contrast against the surface color of the test piece. Fluorescent magnetic particles offer significantly higher detection sensitivity, visibility, and contrast compared with non-fluorescent particles, making them easier to inspect, increasing inspection speed, and expanding their applicability. They are widely used in magnetic particle testing equipment for nondestructive evaluation.
