Product Description

Magnetic particle testing is suitable for detecting surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials. Because magnetic indications accumulate at the surface of the test piece, the shape, location, and size of the discontinuities can be visually displayed, and their nature can be roughly determined. Magnetic particle testing exhibits very high sensitivity for detecting surface and near-surface defects, with a detectable discontinuity width as small as 0.1 μm. By employing a variety of magnetization methods in combination, magnetic particle testing is virtually unaffected by the size and geometry of the workpiece and can detect defects in all directions.

  Magnetic Particle Inspector

Magnetic particle inspection is a nondestructive testing method that uses magnetic particles as the indicating medium to visualize defects. When a ferromagnetic workpiece is magnetized, the presence of discontinuities causes local distortion of the magnetic flux lines at and near the surface, resulting in leakage fields. These leakage fields attract and hold magnetic particles applied to the surface, which, under appropriate illumination, form visible magnetic indications. The position, size, shape, and severity of the discontinuities are thereby revealed.
